ANTONELLA MIGNONE & CRISTIANO PANEPUCCIA (APOTROPIA) - is an artist duo formed by Antonella Mignone and Cristiano Panepuccia. They work across video, dance, performance, sound and installation and explore the philosophical, anthropological and scientific elements of human culture.

APOTROPIA's works have been exhibited internationally at Japan Media Arts Festival, Ars Electronica, ACM SIGGRAPH, BLOOOM Award, Share Festival, WRO Media Art Biennale, MIT Museum, FILE – Electronic Language International Festival, Bienal de Arte Digital, FutureFest Art Prize, Festival Internacional de la Imagen, Eurovideo, among many others.

SYNOPSIS:

ALTERED EGO THE SURFACING: A mask emerges from an aseptic fluid and is reflected in its digital double. Inside, a faceless body wears a mask that struggles to maintain its own configuration, throwing the whole person into an environment whose data disorderly take chaotic pixelated forms, maintaining a memory of the passage of the body and reconfiguring itself as it passes. Like splashes of color, some traces remain impressed on the digital canvas that acts as a background and stage.

"The Surfacing" is a digital art video from the Altered Ego Series by APOTROPIA: a series of video artworks that explores the de-materialization of human identity in the digital world.

SYNOPSIS:

ALTERED EGO SCULPTOR : A process that leads to the creation of deconstructed masks, erased from time to time to allow the emergence of a face that fails to appear. After their disappearance, the remainders of the previous construction float as irregular traces.

SYNOPSIS:

THE KISS: A contact between two bodies. An intense sharing of information. A chemical cocktail in the brain. "The Kiss" is an audiovisual work that explores a simple gesture acted out between two lovers. An intense coming together of two bodies in the digital space. The work was created using motion capture, particle systems and real time randomization techniques.
